Matter assimilation speed is a semibogus concept created for the purpose of determining the same person in rational experiments in personal identity theories.

The natural assimilation of matter into a body is a slow process because the transport of chemicals in the body takes time as does the deconstruction of molecules and then reconstruction of of new molecules made of new matter. But just because it is a relatively slow process, does not means that if the process was faster or even instantaneous, it would not produce the same resultant consciousness and ixperiencitness.

If all the matter in a body is instantaneously assimilated / replaced with new matter producing the same structure and functioning it will produce the same consciousness and ixperiencitness. But it will be considered to be a different person because there has been no time for the old matter to make the new matter the same person by assimilation.

This is a case of a different person having the same consciousness and ixperiencitness as a different person.

The question is how fast can assimilation of matter occur in a person, in order for the person to continue to be the same person? This is not a scientific question so much as a definitional question. If you can define what a person is then you might be able to answer this question. Then you have to define what the same person over time is. For the definition not to be arbitrary there has to be some reasons for this definition. We can define the same person as having the same consciousness and, or ixperiencitness.
