Spiritual immortality

Spiritual immortality is the concept that there is something other than just the body and its structure and functioning that produces the "you". It can be called a soul or ghost connected to a person's body somehow. It is something usually poorly defined that is somehow connected to a body but also detachable from the body at death. Science has never found any useful and coherent evidence of supernatural entities like spirits, souls, etc. Nonetheless a majority of the people believe in souls or spirits. Usually these people believe that a soul or spirit is necessary for there to be life after death or conscious existence after death for a person. Superimmortality does not require any type of supernatural soul or spirit for there to be conscious existence again after death. Where most people believe that there is the body and the soul like entity that can survive after the death of the body. Superimmortality predicts that there is the body and then there is the structure and functioning of the body. When the body dies it no longer produces a structure and functioning that can produce consciousness. A human body is not identical to another humans body because they are made of different matter and in different places and, or times thus making them different objects. But structure and functioning of matter can be identical. An example is the TV analogy. There are TV sets and TV shows that the TV set produces. This in a way corresponds to the human body and the consciousness that it produces. There is also the structure and functioning of the TV set that produces the TV show. The TV set and human body are physical objects. The different is that a human body is biological physical system and very much more complex than a TV set. No matter how complex a TV set becomes it still is a physical object. We can imagine a TV set becoming just as complex as a brain. One version of this increasingly complex TV is called a computer and the TV show now is called a computer program. We can imagine a TV set /computer that is so complex it produces, from its own functioning alone (not from an out source like antenna, dvd or DVR recording) its own TV show.
