The conscious self is different from the body self. If the structure and functioning of the body changes enough it will then either produce a different conscious self or no conscious self at all, as when the body is dead. Most people believe that there is just one conscious self produced by the one body. And possibly a soul, but there is no evidence of a soul existing or being able to control or to communicate with a body if it did exist. The science of superimmortality predicts that the conscious self is and can be produced through the functioning of many different bodies with many different structures and functioning in many different ways through out space and time. The conscious self can vary from at any one time from no body producing a consciousness that you can experience to many different bodies producing the same to enumerable different conscious versions of the self.
