Scientific Proofs for Immortality

Scientific proofs for immortality are not religious proofs for immortality or proofs for the existence of god.

The first part of a scientific proof is the problem being well defined. What do we mean by immortality? When is that property of immortality achieved? What is actually a proof of immortality? What is scientific evidence for immortality? What is experimental evidence for immortality? What is rational evidence for immortality?

Immortality is sometimes simply defined as: living forever, never dying. Living for ever is actually different than never dying. The term immortality is not well defined scientifically. There are two aspects that make immortality impossible using these definitions. Living for ever is adding the concept of the infinity of time. Infinities are difficult to deal with and even more difficult to deal with scientifically. You would have to prove that the universe with matter will be here and able to produce life forever independent of if you are immortal or not. Or you have to prove the existence of some supernatural concept like a soul that will exist forever, which is not a scientific proof.

The other aspect of the problem is never dying. This is also an infinity related concept and all people die sooner or later. We could leave it there and say that immortality is not scientifically provable. There is another definition of immortality that is almost as good. It is: There will never be a time where you can not experience conscious existence again. This incorporates the concept of infinity into it making it predicting the future existence of something that can produce your conscious existence which is again is a case where that science can not prove.

This is a more provable statement: As long as the multiverse has the ability to produce conscious life or later to produce conscious life again, there is the possibility that you will experience conscious existence again after death. This my not sound much like immortality but when we consider that when you are not conscious you are not aware of time passing. This is because to be aware of time passing you have to be conscious. Even if you are not consciously aware through out all of time it will seem like you are just like you are right now.

It now comes down to the concept of: is possible to have conscious existence after death? It is hard to prove a negative in science. Which is the equivalent of proving the statement that there will never be, under any conditions, any one that experiences conscious existence after death. Even though science cannot prove this statement, it can disprove it by finding one case where it is true. Depending on your definition of death this has been disproved scientifically by people that have actually died and were brought back to life. For example, people that have drowned in ice cold water, had no heart beat for tens of minutes and were eventually brought back to a conscious state of existence.
