Scientific epistemology is the science that studies systems of knowledge. The term epistemology is enough of a name for a science but there is an area of philosophy that is called epistemology. Scientific epistemology is different from philosophical epistemology. Philosophical epistemology is the philosophical study of how we come to have knowledge. Scientific epistemology is the study of knowledge done scientifically. Philosophical Epistemology can not tell us what knowledge is. The reason for this is we can not know anything for certain until we know every thing. This is because the last thing we learn may be the most important and change every thing else that we thought we knew. For instance, what if we finally find that the reality that we thought we knew we find out is not reality at all but a creation of imagination. This might mean that every thing that we have learned is not true at all except in the realm of the imaginary world that we thought we existed in. We may find that we know that we exist in the imaginary world but can not find a way out of it.
There exists many questions that we don't have answers for. One being why are things the way they are rather than another way. Why is the speed of light what it is and why are there atoms? Many of the answers that we find depend on other things that again depend on other things but finally like an mathematical axiomatical system thing are based on other things that could be different. The constants in science such as the speed of light could be different. We may find out why the speed of light is what it is but the reason will be based on other assumptions that could be different. There is the old saying that any thing is possible. But most things are not highly probable. This is because there are an infinite amount of things that could be. And they all can not be at the same time and place. Because that would eliminate the possibility of the of the other possibilities. This is a paradox. But then who's to say that our universe is logical. We may in fact find that the universe that we live in does not have the ability to have in it creatures that understand itself. So what is scientific epistemology? It is the science that tries to study ever possibility and simplify the information that is gathered with the result of making new knowledge or a new arrangement of the old. We use knowledge to simply and represent knowledge. But since we cannot ever be certain of our knowledge what have we left? If we can't represent knowledge by knowledge what can we represent knowledge by? What we have is systems that serve a function such as to simplify or predict the outcome. Mathematics is such a system so is logic. In fact, there are many areas of science that predict outcomes from it's theories. And some times it is successful is predicting what will happen in reality our at least what we think is reality.
When we talk about making new knowledge we are talking about making a process that's outcome can be tied to some prediction or process in reality. Or is useful in some other way. How many possible ways or processes are there? There are an infinite amount. The proof of this is a mathematical proof. One process can produce and infinite amount of answers and one process can produce one answer. We have with mathematics a way of delineating an infinite amount of knowledge because there are an infinite amount of numbers and each number can be the answer to an infinite amount of questions (mathematical questions) For an example what is 1/1 and 2/2 and 3/3 ... the answer to each is 1 so one is the answer to an infinite amount of questions the same goes for every number. What is the square root of 2 times 1/1 or 2/2 again we have an infinite amount of questions that have one answer, and this time the answer is a transcendental number that is infinite. Epistemology has the theocept that is a way of framing ideas. The theocept is a term that is made from combining two other terms these are theoretical and concept i.e., theocept. The theocept is real dimensional matrix where every point can contain a number of different representations of things first it can be blank. Then it can hold numbers, words, pictures, processes, other points, names, or "go to" statements like in computer program or any other representation of things. Each point can hold a theocept. A theovector is a part of a theocept that holds information and can process information. it can be changeable by incoming information and it produces outgoing information that effect other theovectors. theoreceptors are short for theovectors that receive input from out side of the theovectors. There are two types of theoreceptors ones that receive information totally from out side the theocept and one that get information from both outside of the theocept and from other theovectors. this allows a feed back loop from the other theovectors that can modify the input. it is called a theomoreceptor. The reason that we use the term theovector is that it points in a sense to the other theovectors that it affects. What we have then is a way of representing any thing including all the slight nuances of a thing including processing. But this representation of a thing is a theocept. Needless to say a theocept can be a very complicated thing. But it can be named with one name and it can be manipulated in equations with other theocepts. Every thing can be converted into a theocept. This includes other theocepts. One theocept can be converted into an infinite amount of other theocepts that are different but retain the required or important attributes for instance there are an infinite amount of ways to represent one number. Two can be represented by the numeral 2 or by a division such as 4/2 or an addition such as 1+1 There are an infinite amount of ways to represent 2 in the same way there are an infinite amount of ways to represent equal theocepts. Mathematics spends a great deal of time and effort to reduce complex representations of number into their simplest form. And in finding simplifying processes to do it. Mathematical epistemology does the same. There is not one set of rules or axioms that work best with theocepts. Because any time that we accept only set of rules we limit ourselves to processes the are more difficult to solve. But when we allow more and more rules or axioms and syntactic rules we are making the science more and more difficult. A real dimensional theocept is one when there are at least a real number of dimensions. Generally a mathematical graph on paper is two dimensional with the x and y axis. The world has three dimensions and time is sometimes considered a fourth.
The simplest theocept is the null theocept. it doesn't have a name. Then comes the theocepts that only have names but no body or other information. There are an infinite amount of names and all names are theocepts. Then there are numbers they have a name and their names have implicit meanings even if we do not know what those meanings are. There is another category of theocepts that is theocepted that have name and have the meaning spelled out in its self. every definition is not complete because every thing can be related to every thing else so that a complete definition of anything is going to be infinite. How some thing relates to something else may be how its theocept is different from the other theocept. A theocept has to have an internal structure that can hold any part or all of knowledge, and yet be represented by one symbol. The term epism is the name for the ultimate theocept the one that holds all knowledge. Its correspondence, in math, is infinity. However, in mathematics there are more than one infinite in fact there are an infinite amount of infinities each infinitely larger than the other. I have no doubt that the same process would work for Episms also. And since episms are so much more complicated than numbers there would be an epism of episms and this is not used as an amount but as a measure complexity. I use the term epism because it is the first part of the word epistemology. Epistemology deals with complexity, studies and tries to simplify it. Some things can not be simplified. but there are many possible ways of doing many things. The first simplification that epistemology makes is one symbol name for each theocept. Unfortunately there are many more theocepts that there are symbols. So many theocepts have to have names that are large and that are stored within the theocept. The name of a theocept is stored in the position of a theocept 0.on a two dimensional graph it would be the point (0,0) but we are dealing with an infinite dimensional graph. So the point is 0 for all dimensions or as (0,0,...) This point is the easiest to reach or define and the name of a theocept is the most important part of the theocept for utility purposes. Rather than a name some times it is useful to put a theovector in the (0,...) point. It contains information on the theocept and where to go from there. The theopoint (0,...) is called the zeropoint or name point of a theocept. A theopoint is a point on a theocept. Because the theocept corresponds to points on or in a real dimensional space all areas of mathematics that deals with space can deal with theopoints. We can have algebraic equations defining them. Then we can apply calculus to the equations. Why would we want to do this? The answers are infinite. One basic reason is to see what we can come up with. For a theocept can represent an n dimensional space of points. The mathematical manipulation can represent many types of transformations. Since the theocept can represent anything there are going be things that we usually treat with mathematics. The theocept is a way of applying layer upon layer of complexity to certain concepts. Some will be very useful others will not be. They under certain circumstances can be used. There are so many perspectives that any theoceptive structure could be useful. A theoceptive structure can be represented within a theocept using more than one point to represent between any two points there will always be space to shove and infinite structure if not in one dimension then in the in between dimensions. Remember, there are dimensions between the whole numbers so the is the first dimension the second dimension but between any dimension there are the fractional dimensions like 1.2 . Or there are the transcendental dimensions like pi .. 3.1415... Every type of number is applicable to the theocept and its points. all that we need is a way to reference them. For instance we know that 1.2 comes before 2 but after 1 so we have a way to reference it. there are I am sure many types of numbers that have different properties that we have not though of yet and they to can be applied to the theocept. In fact every possible type of concept can be applied to the theocept in every possible way. The reason that this is important is that we are trying to represent every type of knowledge and the way the mind works allows many concepts to be processes like an entity and reapplied to itself. We can even define a dimension rather than a number as a theocept or concept so that it has specific properties that are needed to represent knowledge better. How would this work? we can have a system that related different points in different patterns that are not next to each other. We can have any system relating the different areas of the theocepts. One is the dimensional continuum. another is the atomic continuum then there is the theoceptic continuum. This is a structure for the theocept. Why would we want so much complexity? to deal with complexity we have to have a way to represent it and the differences between the different knowledge structures. To deal with a complexity we have to have a way to represent it and then change and manipulate it. That is what math is so important because it allows us to map differences and then name then with numbers.
There are many other parts of a theocepts such as the descriptive parts that tell what in it haw large that it is. where different information is found in it. Epistemology is the ultimate science of both open mindedness and criticalness. It deals with all possibilities but it does not accept any theory as the absolute last word for knowledge. Knowledge and the world that it represents is way to complex for that. What it can do is put probabilities on certain things happening and state the reason for those probabilities it can also state that people believe some theory as if it we absolutely true. And in many different versions because in every ares of ideas there are going to be truths that are accepted as absolute such in mathematics or in logic. What makes Epistemology so strange is that it does not have to deal with the real world at all to produce information that is useful. We can make up an imaginary world and the we can talk about that world and can have knowledge of that world. Like a soap opera it is not real but we can talk about it and be correct or incorrect about it as if it were real. What we do is qualify it. Such as on the soap opera "life is tuff" Joe's a jerk! can be a true statement but we have put on it assumptions. The problem is that there are many qualification that need to be placed on any thing it is the hidden assumptions that allow us to communicate among our selves.
Is it possible to create an experience machine where everything is possible? the reality that is produced for each mentapath does not have to be the exterior reality or the reality that the experience machine runs on or by. Does our reality have the ability to produce all the possible mentapaths within this experience machine. This experience machine would have the ability to produce any mentapath. If it could produce all the possible mentapaths at once it would have to have infinite capabilities to produce an infinite amount of mentapaths.
Infimentaducer, a mentapath producer that can produce an infinite amount of mentapaths at once
Finmentaducer, a mentapath producer that can only produce a finite amount of mentapaths
The universe is a finmentaducer because it produces my mentapath. But is it a infinmentaducer? Is it or can it produce an infinite amount of mentapaths? We can never know if we are in an experience machine or if we are directly connected to a real world. We tend to believe that we are not connected to an experience machine. What is an experience machine? It is something that produces experiences for mentapaths but we usually think that it is more. A machine implies that it is made by something so if we consider the existence of a god we could call the universe gods experience machine. There are other factors to a experience machine one is that there is a physical inside and outside like there is on a machine so that what is on the inside can not come to the outside and visa versa but a god is supposed to be inside as well as outside this experience machine we can the universe. We will consider by definition that a experience machine is separate from the thing that actually produces the mentapath. So an experience machine would be something that we would connect a person to so that they experience different things or the desired things. A mentaducer is a thing that produces mentapaths. It would be the experience and the person. That is why the world would be considered a mentaducer. We can visualize other possible mentaducers imagine a brain connected to another brain so that the larger brain produces the output that the smaller brain believes is reality. One of the problems with a brain being a experience machine for another brain is that the brain is slow in producing output especially the sensual output that is the others brains input. We could imagine an experience machine that is connected to a brain that is controlled by another person. This control can be of all sorts of degrees. So the person that controls the experience machine could have the range of control from only the on off switch to very intricate controls of the minutest detail. This situation can also be one where we have two brains connected by way of a fast interchanger experience machine. This means that one could know the existence of the other or not and one could control what the other experiences or not. They may both think that they are in fact real and that they are controlling the other's brain and mentapath through the experience machine and not be aware that they are in fact themselves inside the experience machine and being controlled by the other. We are in fact within an experience machine. The universe produces these experiences for us. What can this experience machine (the universe) do. Why does it have restrictions to it functioning? Does it have restrictions to its functioning? Maybe the restrictions that the universe has that we perceive are just an illusion. Maybe we just don’t know how universe works. If we knew how it works we could get it to produce any thing. Maybe this universe has the ability to produce any experience or mentapath and all we have to do is to know enough. Why is it that this universe is like it is and not another way? Is it because of some properties of its own or is it properties that it shows us and not its real properties. If these are its real properties then maybe it is not showing us all of its properties. Why? If we knew more we would be different mentapaths than we are in fact. And for there to be all mentapaths or a great deal of them there has to be restrictions. These restriction do not need to be real restrictions but perceived restrictions. As science gives us more knowledge and as a result more power our ability to change the world can increase with this ability comes changes. If we wish them and changes in spite of our efforts not to. Due to science our lives are different than those in the past we look at the world differently now we have cars and tvs and radios etc. We know about galaxies and stars and DNA. Our lives are different --- we thus produce different types of mentapaths. We still produce many mentapaths that are almost as they once were in some parts of the world but there are becoming fewer and fewer of them all the time. We do live in a world with perceived restrictions. Before the understanding of DNA it was inconceivable for most people to think that we could remake extinct species, but, it my be relatively easy to make extinct species and species that have never existed before by way of genetic engineering. This is in the same way that tv seemed impossible one hundred years ago. Along the same lines it seemed impossible to remake people that had once died but with the identity theory of consciousness we have an understanding of how we could make people come back to life and maybe the process will be as relatively easy to do as watching tv. We do not know what limits that we have the more that we know the more we have found that we can do. Knowledge allows us to run our experience machine (the universe) the way that we want. We don’t know what restrictions that this experience machine has. It in fact may have none we just need to learn how to push the right buttons to make the experience do as we wish. Will this power lead to bad things. I don’t think so but if the universe is such that it does we will never know. I would guess that the universe is neutral or good and that it is in a way leading us or pushing us to progress. There is the argument that there is a god and he does not want us to do this. This progress is the devils work they say. There is no doubt that there have been many things that we consider bad because of what we have done with knowledge, but, maybe they were not as bad as we have though. Pain is the worst thing that I experience it can be from many things like; seeing others suffering, or feeling guilty, or just me myself being in pain or feeling miserable. But what are the things that can not be undone the life of a person could be recreated. It could be recreated with that persons other loved ones. These are mentapaths and they can play out in any way we may wish. If we had the power we could make many worlds or we could make many mentapath producers and have them float in space around the sun using the planets for matter and the sun for energy. If we used all the energy of the sun and all the matter in the planets we could produce trillions of trillions of mentapaths for billions of years.
