Unless we know everything we know nothing for certain! There is always a way to be fooled into thinking something that is not true. Is there really one thing that we can know for certain? No! How about if we actually exist? We can have only existed from this minute which is right now. We can be certain of nothing that has happened to ourselves because we can be certain of nothing that has happened before this moment and every thing has happened before this moment. The brain gives us the feeling of a past but do we really have one. To argue any position the arguer must accept some premises to argue from. I really can not be certain of any premises not even that I can be certain of none. We can try to give probabilities to the premises that we use but to do that we must make premises to use to make probabilities. Before we can know anything for certain we must know everything. the same thing applies to god. Before god can know any thing for certain he must know everything. If he does not know everything then he is in the same epistemological ignorance as we are. And if he does know everything people can not argue that he does not know things as an excuse for his behavior. He has to know everything including what would happen to people before they were born. God has to know everything or he is as ignorant as we are. For the last thing that he may learn is that he is in fact in an experience machine and what he thought he knew he did not, and everything that he thought he knew was in some way or all ways different. He will have been a being searching for knowledge like man. Every religion makes god aut as a limited god. The highest good is the pursuit of knowledge. If I can know that, then god can also know that. He will also know about the identity theory. There are levels upon levels of reality where a god exists within those levels who knows. If he is in the top level he has to know everything and if he is not at the top he can only see the levels below him not above him. He can guess about the levels above him but they are only guesses. If god does not know everything then he will be in the same boat as us as far as the epistemological tools that he uses is concerned. He will have to use mathematical epistemological as the rest of us will and what is mathematical epistemology? It is every way at looking at every thing and doing it mathematically. What does mathematics have to offer? What is it? Mathematics are ways to deal with concepts rigorously. But some knowledge is not rigorous. We can conceptualize any thing and then deal with it any way that we wish. Mathematical epistemology tries to deals with every thing in every way and to put it in a form that can be used over and over with out being lost. We find new ways to deal with the interrelations between all these concepts. What we end up with is knowledge of knowledge of knowledge .... Each level of interconnection will give us new ways of interconnecting these ideas and concepts. We develop processes to do everything. We also find why the rule that we have to use are the way that they are. What we end producing is complexity upon complexity, but we simplify it at every stage. Why do we do this? Because this is how the mind works and this is how all conscious problem solving minds work but they can be made differently and many are. This process is one of putting together into a single concept or term then manipulating that single term as if it were apiece of a larger puzzle. Any thing or any grouping can be treated in this way. What it allows for is any kind of epistemological arrangement. This allows for the representation, manipulation, and solving of problems. The understanding of this is the highest form of thinking. It is a vague but powerful concept that can be applied back to itself in any number of ways. It is the ultimate complexity and the ultimate simplicity. Any concept can be named then manipulated like any other concept. Every other concept can be applied to it in every way imaginable. It is a whole way of thinking and many people will not be able to fully understand it because it is out side of there abilities to understand it. But many can if they are shown in a way that they can relate it to something that they already know or understand. If enough people can understand these ideas and then mathematical process can be applied to it to simply it, we can achieve many more things and solve many more problems than we do know. We can develop many mathematical processes then we can develop mathematical processes that simply these different mathematical processes. but of course this is not the only way that it can be done. Which means that we have another process that does it in another way. It is complexity upon complexity. The next process is unraveling the different levels of complexity so that things actually get done. This is the level of analysis where we try to break the concepts into parts that are applied in way that we know. We must always be on the look out for new basic concepts since we have no real starting point. We are not sure what a basic concept is but we can start a new concept any where then we see if it is what another concept is and usually it will not be but then we can break it down into other concepts. It is almost as if there is a continuum of concepts and we can define a concept by drawing a line around it and the we can draw lines around parts of it and define it as the parts. But some of those parts will be areas outside of the original area so we pare down these ideas to fit, and can put then back together again in the original form. M.E. would say that there are many ways to view it and many ways to process it. The sky is the limit. Rather than having one theory of how matter and energy works we should have many ways the reason for this is that each theory can have its advantages aver others. Each one should be improved. Every theory will have its use. We need to be able to make these theories up fast with algorithms that are related with algorithms. What do I mean by an algorithm? It is a way to process many things at once. Our brains are processors and work like an algorithm because it processes many things at once. An example of this would be information production. Lets take baseball scores. We have names dates scores etc.all this information can be encoded in many ways some will be simpler and some more complex but an algorithm can be made to crank out every piece of information with out storing any of it. How? There are many ways the computer is one and they are changing. Another way is by encoding information into a real number and then recreating that number later. One number encodes names, dates, scores, etc. in some order. So the algorithm only has to calculate the number out then convert the information to words. This may or may not be simpler that other methods. If it is easier will depend on many things like how fast the number can be calculated and converted but it is a way and there are many more ways that it can be done each having its advantage. This can be done in all areas of knowledge. there is no limit to it and there are ways to simply it that can be applied at each stage of the process. It takes every thing that we know and uses it in every way that we know Is this a waste of time to do this complicated process. It is important is the solution can not be found to an important problem. Science the things and process that are learned and used can be remembered and reused we can add to the process over and over again We need to remember the process of how to start and how to keep adding to it. We get very interesting interrelations. I think that we are just starting this process. What we do may in fact effect the world Things may not be the case until we decide what the world is. We effect the world externally but do we do it in another way also. May be the world is like an incomplete experience machine and as we learn about it learns about it and thus develops Why or how I do knot know but If we were in a living experience machine the experience may have to keep up with us and develops parts of itself as we learn. for instance may be there were no galaxies until we found them When we found them the experience machine made them a reality. Our learning goes in little steps and when we see something new we often see it cloudy we attribute it to our poor instruments but maybe if we had good enough instruments it would still be cloudy because it has not been determined what is in fact there. We have not found any alien life maybe they are not there but as we keep looking we will find them because the experience machine makes them. It might be possible to get a little ahead of the experience machine and find this quasi incomplete world. If you think about it if we were in an experience machine why would it have to be complete in every way it would be impossible to predict every thing that would happen if you did not know every thing to begin with. We would like to think that we live in a real world where every things is complete but what proof do we have for it and how can that proof be justified. The original point of this topic was that god has to know everything or he really is not a god he is on our level even if ahead of it. If god does not know everything he can use all the help he can get t to understand the world and the universe. If he does not know everything he really does not know anything for sure so everything that is trying to do may be wrong. He then must keep an open mind as we must. If on the other hand god knows everything then he knew ahead of time what everyone was going to do. If he created us then he knew what he was creating If a devil comes into the argument then he also knew exactly what the devil was going to do and will do before he does it. If god has nay power then he know exactly the consequences of everything he will do before he does it. If he does anything he knows the results that will happen. He also, since he knows everything he knows what he does or will do. If god created us and is all knowing then he knew and is responsible for what he created. If we are bad it is gods fault and knew it before he created us. Is god bad if he makes bad people? or maybe people are not bad or maybe god is not involved with us at all. If he started us he is totally responsible for us If he is all knowing because he knew ahead of time what was going to happen when he made us. If god is good and all knowing he would not have made man that is bad unless it was for a good reason. What is the purpose of man any way in gods eyes. He is certainly powerful enough that he does not need us we certainly are not the best conceivable companions that he could have and I see no reason that he needs us to serve him or to love him because if he need this it just means that he is not perfect the way that he is. I would venture a definition that if god does not have all knowledge and all power and didn’t make the universe then he is limited and should not be called a god but only a higher life form than we are some where between people and a real god. A real god would be so complicated we could never know any thing about him and consequently all the religions that profess to this god is in fact believing in a super being but not a god. WE can blame a super being for the problems that we have if he created us. People seem to want to have things to believe in and if not gods then heros or geniuses to deify or to make greater than they really are. people want to believe in something even if what they believe in is not logical and does not explain things very well. There is the feeling that a poor or bad theory is better than none.
Mathematical epistemology is the study of the ways to deal with all possible theories. What is a theory? In the broadest definition a theory will deal with peoples belief systems. and in the narrow sense it will deal with scientific theories. Any time we try to explain or predict something we are producing a theory. Does a theory have to be tied to explanation or prediction? Is the purpose to tie everything together in ever possible way? then to simplify it so that it can be comprehended by conscious beings. Is this like conscious beings becoming gods? The concept of god is a theory that has been developed by man. If we really had a theory of god that was any where close to being like what a god would be like we would have a very different properties than current religions views of god. If god has ultimate power and knowledge he has no need for humans or anything that they do. Only if god has limits does he then have needs. Which brings us to the point did nature produce god or did god produce nature? It is assumed that god produced nature. What about cause/ effect, logic, time, or the common sense rules that we normally Is god the master of these things or the slave to them? If god is all powerful then he is the master of these abilities. It does not make sense that god would ask us to perform crazy rituals unless he did not have control over us and know what we were going to do, thus very limited in his abilities. Man is superstitious which is one reason that he is religious. Why are women more superstitious than men? They are also more religious than men. Is there a connection? is there a evolutionary reason? maybe the world that men exist in is more dependent on specific scientific reasoning. It is a more scientific process to hunt than to collect gather fruits and vegetables. It could be that the norm is toward more superstitiousness and the men had to be more scientific in there hunting techniques. Women had to get along better and be more accepting and men had to be more adventurous, scientific, and creative to be successful hunters. When times were tough the men that could find food for the group were more apt to survive. Men that were more successful with ideas then were the ones that invented religions or belief systems.
