The functioning of the brain produces consciousness.
As the functioning changes the consciousness can change
Identical functioning produces identical consciousness
We can view the possible physical functionings of the brain as a continuum
We can view the possible consciousnesses as a continuum
We can compare the two continuums
The continuums can be created with many dimensions to represent the different concepts and their change.
We can have knowledge of these functionings, continuums and consciousnesses.
We can make predictions by using this knowledge.
We can change the functioning of a system like a brain
We can make changes in consciousness by making changes in functioning systems like the brain.
We can predict the effects of the changes on the functioning of a physical system on consciousness.
We as a society can have goals
These goals can be based on what we know about the universe we live in (science)
Our goals are based on our needs Our needs are based on how our bodies function
Our consciousness is based on the functioning of the body
Consciousness is needed for survival of certain life forms
Higher levels of consciousness can exist than people have now Proof: different people have different abilities, there exists a highest level for this ability in a population, there exist many different abilities, the functioning that produce these abilities can be combined. Second proof we are not the most advanced conceivable functioning brain. A more complicated larger and properly constructed brain should have greater abilities and even consciousness. Other animals have senses that we do into have these senses could be integrated into humans to make them more consciousness. There exists scientific insturments that are like senses that could be connected to human consciousness. The consciousness of many people can be combined. WE can imagine being consciousness of many things at once.
