In this site it mean the scientific study of knowledge. Episteme is the greek word for knowledge. "ology" is the latin word for the study of, or science of. Consequently, it should means the study of knowledge or the science of knowledge.
Usually the word epistemology refers to an area of philosophy called the "theory of knowledge".
