Not missing out on life argument

From Aware Theory
Jump to: navigation, search

Whether you believe in a religious afterlife or not there are many experiences or varied life times you will not experience. The people that do not believe in a religious after life usually believe that they will have only one life to experience because they believe that when your body (permanently) dies so do you. They believe that only your body can produce the consciousness that is you. Religions often have theories of an after life. But these theories are usually very restrictive in what you will or can can experience. For example, some religious theories of of an afterlife predict the existence of heaven and hell. In heaven you are not going to experience bad things and in hell you are not going to experience nice things. All of the awarepaths that contain both good and bad experiences will not be created after death according to these beliefs. There are also many other restrictions to what you can and will experience. For example, in heaven you are not likely going to experience sexual orgies or experience "Star Trek" like adventures. In other belief systems you experience a ghostly spiritual existence without a body thus again a limiting factor to all the possible awarepaths that you could experience just from potential sensepaths that can be applied to any point in your life.

Either you do not consciously exist after death or if you do there are many (an extremely large amount) awarepaths that you can or will never experience or experience again. Many people feel that they will be missing out on experiences that they could have had before death thus the creation of what is called "a bucket list" of things that people want to experience before death. Most possible desired experiences can not be created because there is not enough resources or they break physical laws. For instance, if you wanted to experience traveling through the universe in a space ship like is shown in science fiction movies, faster than light, this is likely physically impossible.

Most people are going to, at least believe, that they are going to miss out on most human body and earth centered like experiences after death. Superimmortality predicts an entirely different reality from religions theories of afterlives and mortalists theories of afterlives. Superimmortality predicts that you are produced by the structure and functioning of a body but not uniquely by a specific body. Your body can exist and produce no consciousness either because it is dead or unconscious by means of drugs, injury, or certain periods of sleep. Your body if the structure and functioning is changed enough can produce the behavior of any other person including a changing in the belief of who they think they are, their memories, skills, knowledge, etc. Your consciousness, this means a consciousness that you experience, is not tied to a specific body but to the structure and functioning of matter, that any body can produce. If the structure and functioning of your body was changed to how it was when you were ten years old it would produce the consciousness that you experience when you were ten years old. If the structure and functioning of this ten year old you was changed to that structure and functioning of your next door neighbor when he was ten years old, it would then produce a consciousness that your neighbor experienced when he was ten years old. If you changed that structure and functioning to what your body would have or will produce ten years from now it will produce that consciousness and you will think produced from this body that you are ten years in the future.

Superimmortality predict that you own certain structures and functionings of matter that will produce consciousnesses that you will experience no matter what matter or body is used. These structures and functioning of matter include many variations in structure and functioning that would have produced life times experiences that were different from what you actually will or did experience in your life. What can you do at this moment that is different from what you will actually do and would you actually have experienced these conscious differences? Lets imagine that you missed an opportunity to meet and then form a wonderful life time relationship with whom you believed would have been the love of your life. If this would have happened then there would have been a specific physapath produced different from the one you actually experienced. According to religious and mortalists theories of an afterlife you will, and can, not ever experience this awarepath. But superimmortality predicts that you own this potential physapath even if it has never been produced before by reality. But if and when it is produced you will experience it just like you would have if it would have actually occurred.

Superimmortality predicts that for most ixperiencitness groupings there are likely an enumerable amount of different "life times" that you can experience and will experience when the corresponding structure and functioning of matter as in the form of a human body is created. What is important is in knowing this information you can work toward creating the life times that you want to experience in the future. You do not have to miss out of desired new and different life times!
