The maintenance man is about a machine that is human like conscious that takes care of an extremely large experience machine in space that circles a sun producing hundred of trillions of consciousnesses at a very fast rate. The consciousnesses are problem solvers for reality some know what is happening others do not. Reality at best was terrible difficult etc.

I am manchine number 1269. I have many human names depending on what I am doing. Being number 1269 I was one of the first manchines created in this solar system. I have a human consciousness and a machine body. I am made to be happy in my life and in what I do. Actually I was made to be very emotionally stable with a full understanding of what I do. I fly around in space keeping my section of an awarepaducer functioning properly. Before that I built this section of the awarepaducer. An awarepaducer is a device that produces awarepaths.

We colonize solar systems that do not have life in then but are other wise stable for billions of years. We take the matter that is in the planets, astroids, moons, and comets and create the awarepaducer. The awarepaducer is a ring of material around the star that rotates. On the side that faces the sun is solar panels that produce electricity on the shady side are electronic circuits that are near absolute zero. Because of the very cold temperature the circuits use very little electricity because of superconductivity.

The process starts very slowly because there is usually very few manchines that make the trip. They have to make more manchines before they can start the process of construction of the awarepaducer. The process of making the awarepaducer is difficult because the matter of the planets have to be broken apart separated into elements manufactured in to the correct parts, moved to the correct placement in space and then assembled. I was the one thousandth two hundredth and sixty nine manchine made in this solar system.

The awarepaducer is about 100 million miles from it sun. it is still under construction. There are three different regions they are the biological, electronic, and photonic sections. I work in the electronic section. My consciousness is produced electronically. Because electrons travel much faster than biological neurons signals my consciousness is produced much faster than with the biological systems. The time that it takes to produce one day of a biological conscious produces a year of my consciousness. A life time of a hundred biological years of consciousness I experience in one hundred days. Photonic consciousnesses are produced ten times faster than mine is.

Most of the consciousness that we produce are not aware of the fact that they are produced in an awarepaducer. And that their reality is created by very complex conscious computer like devices. There is usually a community of consciousness that are connected together. So you actually do interact with and relate to other real live consciousnesses that think that they are in the same reality as you are in. The awarepaducer is conscious too in the sense that it feels and responds to problems and then communicates these problems to me so that I can fix them. You would think that out in space there would not be anything to cause problems, but there are solar flares, small pieces of matter traveling fast through space, and even quantum fluctuations that cause breakdowns that I have to fix. The biggest problem is the waring out of the parts. Even though we try to be as careful in the construction as possible eventually they just stop working correctly. The replacement of the parts is usually not a big problem. The problem is how it affects the consciousness being produced.

There are different parts of the awarepaducer that do different things. The reality producer creates the reality that the consciousnesses experience. For instance, if we are creating a cowboy /western environment, the consciousnesses have to experience few modern conveniences, horses, cattle, dusty, cold, hot, hard work, sickness with little medicine – a certain way of life. The reality producer is conscious so it does monitor itself. It know the reality that it is supposed to produced and does so extremely well unless a part wears out and then it tries to make do with its reduced capacity. When the reality producer knows that there is a problem it reports to me and tries to fix it itself if it can't I will. The problem is that sometimes the reality producer does not realize that it has broken down in such a way that it does not realize there is a problem. This can be very traumatic for the people in side of the awarepaducer. Little things like the time the sun comes up in the morning can make the consciousnesses freak out and think the world is going to end. There is no end to the strange things that the reality producer can create unintentionally. Very rarely the reality producer can go crazy so to speak. It forgets it purpose and either stops producing an environment for the consciousness that it tends to or randomly generates realities in no particular pattern or sequence. When no reality is produced the people involved no longer can see, hear, feel, taste, smell anything. If the reality producer does not shut down what the people experience illogical changes in their reality. For instance, one minute you can be experiencing plowing your field walking behind your oxen worrying if it is going to rain enough to grow a crop and the next you are in a movie theater watching a science fiction movie. The worse case is where there are just random sequences of colors, noises, feelings, tastes, and smells, coming at you.

I fix it all unless I break down where as I become the problem. And another manchine has to fix me.

We know that millions of years ago our ancestors started this process of colonizing uninhabitable solar systems when they learned four revolutionary scientific ideas. First that biological consciousnesses can be produced electronically. Second, any consciousness can be duplicated by duplicating the structure and functioning of the original conscious body. Third and most important is conscious owner ship any time your conscious is produced you experience it. Fourth, you experience many different versions of consciousness not just one short life. The total amount of different consciousness is extremely large and can be formed into a continuum where one consciousness is extremely close to the next.

The awarepaducer is in a donut shape about 300 million in circumference usually less than a hundred feet thick and only miles wide. The size is dependent on the amount of matter we can gather together. It takes about a cubic foot to produce a human like consciousness. The interconnections reality producers energy converters take up more matter and space. Every square meter of solar collector is enough energy to produce an average conscious. 1 square mile of surface facing the sun will produce 4 million consciousnesses. Each mile of ring about ten million consciousnesses. So our awarepaducer when finished will be able to produce 10 million times 300 millions consciousnesses at the same time. Or 3 million billion people. The population of be on a million liveable planets. Since most of the consciousness are produced electronically, which speeds up the the process by a factor by about 300, one year produces a hundred year life time. So in fact this awarepaducer can produce what 100 million livable planets can. There are not 100 million liveable planets in the galaxy. Since there is usually at least one version of every persons consciousness created from the original home planet some call this the immortality machine. Others call it heaven. If we only had the matter we could create a much wider ring or many separate rings if the sum of the rings widths were three million miles wide we could multiply the number of consciousnesses produces by a factor of another million. This would then produce the consciousnesses naturally created by a million galaxies. Your more likely to exist this way than naturally.

One of the most interesting question is who gets to decide which consciousness are produced and when. Actually everyone does in a way. Tragedies are corrected. Lives are relived, extended, improved and enhanced. Goals are accomplished. Knowledge is understood. Loved one are reunited. 

This awarepaducer has the ability to create the consciousness that you are experiencing right now. In fact you may be one of the many different consciousnesses that we are currently producing. In fact, this is how we introduce many people to this fact through reading this story. Don't worry your life is much better in this awarepaducer than in a real world. If you do not take this information well we will just erase this memory from your consciousness. Or maybe erase your consciousness totally as if you never existed before.

After billions of years of existence the sun that the awarepaducer is around novas. Which means that it explodes. I hear it is a beautiful sight and the plan is that I will be around to see it. We will carefully plan for the event because it could destroy the awarepaducer and my self included. As the sun expands as it gets older we will move the ring farther and farther from the sun. When the suns explosion occurs the ring will be extended to its farthest extent and shielded with metals. The blast of the nova will push the ring apart. Buy then hopefully, it will be a very thin ring but connected together all the way around so hopefully it will not break and fly apart out into the outer reachers of space.

If all else fails there are many repair manchines sent to distance regions of the solar system that will survive that will gather and put the pieces back together again. This time because the star will be much smaller and less bright the awarepaducer will be much closer to its sun than before and it will be much wider. This stage will last for billions of years longer than the previous stage. After many billions the star will fade to almost nothing and then the awarepaducer will almost completely surround the star collecting all the energy it produces.

Over the billions of years time many probe manchines will be sent to promising new stars with instructions on how to construct new awarepaducers. This process actually being like a new form of life (growing, developing, surviving, and reproducing expanding and dieing) an organism that lives as long as the universe does. That purpose is the production of consciousnesses
