You Never Die cover

The Book

You Never Die: A Scientific Case for Immortality Without Gods, Souls, or the Supernatural is Mark Douglas's full-length argument that permanent death is logically impossible for a conscious being, even under strictly materialist assumptions. The book develops the theory from three premises mainstream science already accepts, then follows those premises to a conclusion almost no one has been willing to state plainly.

It is published by Zasder Publishing, an imprint dedicated to long-form books that take ideas seriously. The book is available in paperback and ebook, with an audiobook narrated by Kat Bohn coming soon to Audible.

This Site

volney.co is a companion site for readers of the book. It offers:

Three Sources of More

  • The book itself. The full, rigorous argument, every chapter.
  • awaretheory.com. The underlying theory wiki, with thousands of pages of technical detail developed over decades.
  • zasder.com. Mark Douglas's publisher, with research on consciousness, AI, infrastructure, and systems thinking.

The Author

Mark Douglas has spent decades developing the theory of structure-and-functioning consciousness, ixperiencitness, and superimmortality that the book presents. You Never Die is the definitive popular statement of that work.

Why "volney.co"?

Volney is a family name. Both the author's father and his oldest son are named Volney. The name comes from Mark's great-grandmother, who liked the name of the French philosopher Constantin-François de Chassebœuf, comte de Volney. The domain is simply a unique and interesting family name.

How This Site Was Built

volney.co is a static site generated from two sources: the book manuscript and a curated subset of the awaretheory.com wiki. The build pipeline produces about 150 pages with custom SVG diagrams, light and dark themes drawn from the book cover, full-text client-side search, and per-page structured data. Source code is private. No analytics, no trackers, no third-party scripts beyond Google Fonts.
