Evil Punishment and Awaretheory
According to awaretheory death is not the worst evil. If death was the permanent end of conscious existence for a person it would be worse that it is in fact is. Because of superimmortality a life of extreme and constant misery and suffering is the worst evil for a conscious being. Some religions have developed the concept of hell which is an eternity of extreme and constant misery and suffering. The people that preach and convince other people of this, are evil, especially when people believe it applies to them. Fear of suffering and pain can be as bad as some forms of pain itself.
Superimmortality brings up some interesting concepts for morality and ethics. Awaretheory predicts that any conscious being can be made to exist again with the creation of the right itophysapaths. This means that any person that has ever existed and died can be recreated at any point in their previous life. So Hitler could exist again. If this did happen would we punish him for the suffering he help cause? It is argued that this new Hitler is not the same person than the evil Hitler was. That is true. He is not the same person, but he will have the same ixperiencitness and can have the same consciousness as any desired point in his previous life as well. He will have all the memories that he did at the age that he was recreated. There are endless number of ways to punish of hitler starting at any point in his life. All of these different possibilities are potential awarepaths for him. Which ones should become actual if any?
Because of the concept of multiplicity of conscious existence there can exist versions of Hitler that are not evil or at least did not cause any more suffering that any normal person, and do exist at the same time as the evil Hitler. They could have directly suffered because of Hitler's policies. Versions of hitler could have even been Jewish and suffered like he made them suffer. If not by his on means others could have made versions of him suffer greatly. For every person there are many potential awarepaths that contain large amounts of suffering. In the over all scheme of things versions of hitler may suffer more than the average for a ixperiencitness grouping.
Rather than punishing people it seems a better goal to produce positive awarepaths where ever we can.
